Main content

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a spatial system for creating, managing, analyzing, and mapping data.  GIS can be used to understand patterns, relationships, and geographic context in spatial data. The GIS Program at NCAR was established in 2003 to advance actionable and convergent Earth System science through geographic information science and technology.

This training is available to UCAR staff and visitors and will provide an opportunity to learn about GIS resources provided by the GIS Program at NCAR (software, data, and technical support) as well as an introduction to working with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software for mapping and analyzing Earth System data.

Participants must have access to a computer with Windows (VM will work).  ArcGIS Pro software will be provided by the GIS Program to participants and must be installed prior to the training. The training will take place in-person or  virtual.
